Applicants are encouraged to carefully read eligibility requirements and submit completed applications with attachments as requested.
Eligible applicants are community-based organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as charitable non-profit organizations with current letters of exemption under tax laws generally referred to as 501 (c)(3) qualified. Applicants must be based in the Eighth District of the City of Los Angeles (you can use this link to determine if you are in the Eighth District) with operating budgets not to exceed $5million. All requested funds for general operating and project expenses must benefit residents of Council District 8.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and can be submitted via the online grant application. A Submitted application will be considered for review if it meets:
- Service delivery eligibility criteria listed above
- Proof of the organization’s IRS exemption
- Organization’s governance structure including a list of Board members
- Proof of general liability insurance
- Copies of its latest Form 990 filings with the IRS -- Applicants that are not yet recognized by the IRS may be fiscally sponsored by an organization that will submit the appropriate documents including a board approved MOU for the fiscal sponsorship.
